Transportation Administrator Driven to Help

Anti-bullying Program & Resources, School Bus, United Against Bullying

There are 13,500 children in Glendale Elementary School District #40, Arizona, covering 16 square miles. It’s a diversified population. School bus rules are translated into multiple languages such as Spanish, Farsi, Arabic, French, Swahili, Nepali, Nigerian, and Karin. This diverse community has a champion – a passionate administrator, Doris Bean, Manager of Transportation, who says ‘she is driven’ to help the kids. Bean applied for the 2015 United Against Bullying Grant and was awarded $3,500 for the development and implementation of an educational anti-bullying program. The grant enabled Bean to offer three very different events to her community in the 2016-2017 school year. (more…)

The United Against Bullying Grant Program Enables Change

The Grant Program is open to all school districts and organizations working with students in the United States and Canada. Often it’s a single person – a teacher, a counsellor, or a transportation manager – who has positively affected students in their entire school or school district supported by funds from the UAB grant program. Buddy the Bear Makes Everyone Smile

Last week our United Against Bullying team and mascot, Buddy the Safety Bear, visited two grade 5 leadership classes at Richard Bulpitt Elementary School in Langley, BC. We talked about kindness and bullying, listened to the kids share their experiences, and introduced the Coloring Contest. Thank you to the Principal, Ms. Lucy Lenko, and Ms. Karm Connolly and other gracious teachers for the opportunity to have fun with their students. The school has a Positive Behaviour Matrix, B.A.R.K.S. – Be Respectful, Accountable, Responsible, Kind, and Safe – values that are similar to ours. (more…)
