Drum Roll Please It is with great pleasure that we announce the winners of this year’s annual United Against Bullying Grant Program. We received 121 applications, many of which were creative, well-planned, and ambitious. All of the proposals had the students’ safety and well-being clearly defined as a priority. The 2017 United Against Bullying Grant Program launched Monday, January 9, and closes Friday, March 31. Every Tuesday during this period we highlighted a program with anti-bullying resources to inspire the grant writer. There was something for everyone: parents, educators, bus drivers, and students. We featured websites offering a wide range of videos, handouts, educational guides, training programs, even age-specific sites with engaging content, all including free resources. (more…)

Transportation Administrator Driven to Help

There are 13,500 children in Glendale Elementary School District #40, Arizona, covering 16 square miles. It’s a diversified population. School bus rules are translated into multiple languages such as Spanish, Farsi, Arabic, French, Swahili, Nepali, Nigerian, and Karin. This diverse community has a champion – a passionate administrator, Doris Bean, Manager of Transportation, who says ‘she is driven’ to help the kids. Bean applied for the 2015 United Against Bullying Grant and was awarded $3,500 for the development and implementation of an educational anti-bullying program. The grant enabled Bean to offer three very different events to her community in the 2016-2017 school year. (more…)
