High-Touch Video Surveillance/Fleet Safety System Cleaning and Disinfecting Guidelines in Response to COVID-19

Cleaning your High Touch Video Surveillance Equipment

Your Safe Fleet video surveillance/fleet safety systems may be subject to frequent handling/touching and subsequent bacterial and viral contamination. Global health authorities advise that the removal of dirt and impurities can help lower the risk of infection. The use of chemical disinfectant may also help kill bacteria and viruses that remain on surfaces following a cleaning. Use of these disinfectants may further lower the risk of spreading infection.

General Cleaning:

  • Apply distilled water to the product using a lint-free, microfibre cloth. Then use a stiff, non-metallic, short-bristled brush to work any lose dirt that may be on the device/equipment. Use a soft, absorbent, lintless cloth to remove the solution and dry the surface.
  • Make sure no residual solution remains entrapped near any connectors, cracks or crevices.

Disinfecting:

  • Devices may be disinfected by wiping them down with disposable alcohol wipes (use wipes that contain 70% alcohol concentration).
  • Use a lint-free microfibre cloth (no paper towels) to remove residual/excess disinfectant from the surface.
  • Do not use bleach, solvents or cleaning sprays to cleanse or disinfect your device/surface.
